Our daughter and I just walked in from taking this sweet newborn bunny she affectionately named, "Cutie" to the Animal Rescue Hospital. When we went to look at the nest in our backyard this afternoon all of the 2 day old bunnies were gone. The nest was empty. Just as our daughter was walking away she came very close to stepping on this bunny that was outside of the nest. He has a hurt leg. It is a little bloody. But he is breathing and making kitty cat noises. That is a good sign. I called the Animal Rescue for our area and she asked me to drive him to the Hospital...
There he is trying to peek up at our daughter.
He moves himself quite well all around the little box. His eyes still are shut all of the time.
There he is peeking over at me.
Now he is tired out. Back to sleep. The hospital said they will put a splint on his leg, keep him under the warmer, give him milk by dropper and nurse him back to good enough health to be able to release him back into the wild. They say they will release him very close to our house so we may just see him hopping around our backyard again one day... ;)
